Houston is known as one of America’s most exciting and dynamic cities – and the reasons are many. The city’s skyline is known as one of the most attractive in America, with an invigorating new look about it. Downtown is clean and pedestrian-friendly. The city is known for its many festivals that cover a wide array of interests. It has a rich heritage in the arts and offers a wide array of  nationally-recognized talent. For the sports fan, Houston has it all. It’s one of the few cities in America with professional teams in every major sport, matched by world-class facilities. Houston is also home to the Johnson Space Center, where U.S. astronauts train and also the site of  Mission Control, the facility that has guided all of America’s space missions. There is also a must-see visitors’ center that brings America’s space program alive to all ages. Just 20 miles east of Houston is the San Jacinto Monument, marking the site of the historic battle where Texas won its independence from Mexico. Houston, with its proximity to Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, is also a major world point for both cargo shipping and cruise lines as well as a major player in the oil and petrochemical industries.
